Custom Web Site Solutions

serious and "go CUSTOM"!
Custom web design is an
investment you make in your business, to set yourself apart from the
competition. I will personally work with you and your team to identify your
requirements, write/edit your web copy, design and build your web site to your
exact specifications, and pull everything together to make your vision a
reality.
In cases where specialized "add-ons" may be needed (such as
shopping carts, Flash animation features, etc.) that I do not provide directly,
I will be happy to recommend and coordinate those additional features with
third party service providers, and can serve as project architect and
coordinator.
What's included:
- Detailed questionnaire that you will
complete at the beginning of our project, so I can get an idea of what you want
and your color/design preferences.
- An initial phone consultation where we'll
talk about your questionnaire and what you're looking for. After this
consultation, I will work on creating a prototype of the site which I will then
present for your feedback and approval before building the entire site.
- Graphic design and page layout to your
specifications and preferences, including navigation buttons or links, page
banners, and all graphic elements.
- If you have an existing logo, photos, or other
graphic elements you want to use, I can integrate them into the
design.
- Photo scanning, cropping, sizing, and
touch-ups.
- Upon completing the design, I will upload the
files to your web site (hosted by the web hosting company of your choice).
If you do not have a web hosting company, I can recommend some options.
NOT included:
- Cost of domain name registration and web hosting
-- but I will walk you through this process and help you make a decision.
- Cost of stock photos.
- Listing your site on search engines.
- E-commerce/shopping cart/on-line secure ordering
of products or services.
Optional add-ons:
- Drop-down menus: add $500.00 to project
cost. See an example here.
- Fill-in e-mail forms: add $150.00 per form
to project cost.
- Follow-up web site support -- following
completion of the project, should you require updates to your site, I am
available at an rate of $125.00 per hour, billable in 15-minute
increments.

- Your actual cost will be determined upon
reviewing and assessing your requirements. See below for additional information

- Payment Plan:
- Because of the higher costs associated with
custom design, most clients take advantage of the following payment plan. I
prefer credit or debit cards as a form of payment, but if you want to pay by
check, that can usually be arranged in advance.
- 50% of the estimate is due in advance,
prior to commencement of any work.
- Another 25% is due toward the end of the
project -- AFTER you, the client, have approved the final design and
content of the site, but BEFORE I have uploaded the content to your web site
and completed the final testing and review of the site. Once this payment is
received, I will upload the content to your site and do all the final work
required to complete your site.
- The final balance of 25% will be due
immediately upon receipt of invoice following your final review of the
completed and uploaded web site. This ensures the site will be completed to
your satisfaction.
How Web Design fees are
determined
In most cases I can provide you with a fixed price
quote, contingent upon your ability to clearly define the scope of the project.
(If you are unsure about the scope, I will provide an estimate for the project
and bill you for the actual time spent on your project.)
A minimum
budget of $2,500 covers approximately 20 hours worth of work on your project,
which would be sufficient to develop a custom design and build a web site
consisting of about 8-10 pages of web content.
Roughly 75% of the total
project hours go into graphics design and page layout, where I create a custom
web design to your complete satisfaction. The remainder of the project time
involves taking your web site copy and putting the complete site together,
testing all links and making sure the site both looks and functions perfectly
on both the Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers (I test using
both).
The larger your web site, the more "bells and whistles" you want
to add (Flash animation, fill-in feedback forms or surveys, shopping
cart/secure payment processing, etc.), the higher your design costs will
be.

Services I do NOT
provide (but can usually recommend and/or coordinate for you via a
third-party provider):
- Programming for applications such as e-commerce,
class/event registration system, newsletter archives, chat rooms, bulletin
board, etc.
- High-end logo design and business stationary
layout
- Animation work using Flash or other animation
software.
- Submitting your site to search engines or
providing search engine analysis and optimization services.
- Creation or conversion of audio/video tapes into
on-line formats such as Windows Media Player or RealPlayer.
